How would you make a life-size sock puppet costume?

Me and a Friend want to dress up as Sifl and Olly for a Costume day, but we’re having a little trouble deciding how to make them. Any ideas?
We would like to make a Sifl, Olly, Chester, Precious Roy, and the Crescent Fresh Dude.

Start with a bed sheet; fold it over and stitch along the longest side and one short side, making it fit like a sock would over your whole body, then treat it like a sock and add all the other stuff, adjusting each item to scale.
