How do I prove to the directors that I can do this part?

We are performing Aladdin Jr. soon and I want to be Iago… DESPERATELY! I don’t think I’ve ever wanted a part more. (Heh.)

Anyways, how can I show the directors that I can do it? I’m singing a funny/sarcastic song for my audition. I’m also probably the only girl who wants this part. And, my dad is a ventriloquist, so I know how to work puppets. What should I do to show the directors that I’m right for this part. I’ve taken improv classes, I know how to be sarcastic. :)

You prove that you can perform the part by performing the part to the best of your ability in your audition.
Your song sounds good, that you are thinking like the character – just keep practicing and going over it so it is as good as it can be for the audition.
You should also try and get a copy of the script prior to the audition, to read it over and get familiar with what the lines are and how it pans out. Sometimes popular shows can vary a lot in their adaptations.

By doing all the work before hand, getting yourself familiarized and confident, you can go in there, forget about nerves and concentrate on performing and having a good time. Then at the end of the day don’t worry about the outcome (even though you want it bad) ’cause that choice isn’t in your hands – it’s in the hands of the directors.

Have fun and all the best :)
