help with the guitar please?

i am trying to self learn the guitar
and i can play pretty well for someone who hasnt played long
i search up the tabs for my favorite songs and i can play like the beginings and such but im not that ‘finger fast’
like for instance i can play master of puppets by metallica up till the first solo.
so i want some help to learn where i need to go from here to get better
other than guitar lessons i cant afford them
so any real help will help

There are numerous thoughts on this topic and you would have to ask yourself where you want to go with your guitar playing? If you just want to be able to play afew songs like master of puppets then maybe you could just keep on working slowly through the tabs. If you would like to be able to understand alot more of what you are playing and also be able to make up your own solos and melodies/songs then you should start to learn scales and keys etc (theory). Whilst some find this intimidating and sometimes boring, it actually is good fun and will alow you to do so much more including getting your fingers moving faster so you will have no troubles playing those Metallica solo’s etc.

I suggest you start with the major scale (do, ray, mi, far, so, la, te, do) and go from there. It will all open up from there. There are heaps of sites that will have this information available, google searching is the best way to start off.

Remember, guitar does take a long time to be able to play like Kurt Hammond or James Hetfield etc. but you get out of it what you put in
so my suggestion is hit the books while at the same time putting it into practice and you will be a shredding in no time.

PS. I also suggest jamming with friends or meeting people in your area to jam with, and try to find people with a higher skill level than you. This always helps heaps.
