Ideas for my play =) (melodrama)?

Well in drama we have to make up a melodramatic play with characters like villain, hero, heroine and villain’s accomplice.
Well so far we have the characters down but we need ideas for what actually happens in the play……and a name
Hero (me) – Captain obvious….is obvious, thinks hes handsome brave and strong, but really isnt
Villain – Sarcastic Steve……is sarcastic
Accomplice – Bob, stupid, the comic relief guy and bob has an accomplice Gordan who is a puppet, he talks to him and gordan is kinda the leader of the pair and aggro
Heroine – Betty…and thats all we got?

We kinda have an outline, Just need ideas of what things can happen inbetween

When writing a play, story is the best thing to aim for.
I have written two melodramas my second and more recent being the best of the two.
Looking back on it my first one was just a bunch of “funny” stuff happening in “funny” scenes tied loosely together with a basic plot.

What I did with my recent one is I wrote out from start to finish the beats of the story, ignoring humor and concentrating on the drama.
Then when I wrote out the scenes, a few funny things came to mind and I incorporated them, though still remained true to the story.
Once I had the momentum of the story down, I went back in and concentrated on the characterization and extra bits.

Anyone with a bit of creativity and experience can make something funny though without a good story chances are it won’t be memorable.
