Human Puppet Costume needed for a play, one person is a puppeteer, the other a puppet. Any Ideas?

what characters are the two to play other than puppet and puppeteer? could it be a man in a tuxedo and the puppet in a leotard (or t-shirt) tights and tutu? then you could just draw or paint with fabric paint (hobby shop – ask for help finding this) on the knees of the “dancer” what the toe shoes would look like – have the person put on the tights first so the “toe shoes” would be in the right place when he puts the tights on again. Be sure the paint is dry before taking them off. use a hair dryer set on cool to set it fast… You can buy adult (male and female) tights at a Dance supply store online, and ditto the tutu with elastic in the waist.
if the “dancer” is going to move around on his knees a lot, have him wrap a pair of socks around his knees and pin the back with a safety pin or duct tape for padding. then put on the tights and adjust them so the “toe shoes” are just above his knees. otherwise this person is going to have very sore knees…
if on a really tight budget, use opaque extra large panty hose in a color, and get a friend who sews to sew the tutu. you will have to supply her with net, thread, and “gathering tape” -ask the store lady to help you find it in the curtain or other notions supplies, plus some elastic – enough to go around dancer’s waist – from a sewing store like Hancocks or the fabric dept of Walmart. you need enough net for 4 times the “dancer” waist measurement (gathering it up uses this much)
this stuff is cheap. Another alternative a friend of mine did for Halloween (and believe me this was hysterical as he is 6’4 and weighs over 250) was to go to a used clothing thrift store and bought an evening gown (pink and foofy) in size 24 or 3X or something, and cut off the bottom. He had a little rhinestone tiara (also thrift store) on over a long blonde wig, and had a wand with a star on it….

When the manipulator fits a hand into the closed end of the sock, the puppet can be seemingly made to talk.
