Easy Puppet Stage frame?
What could I use as a puppet stage frame? I plan on using some material like a sheet for the curtain and hold it up with a shower rod or something but then what could I use to hang the rod on? I need something by Sunday. answers soon please!
Actually, professionally speaking, there’s no easy way to make a puppet stage frame. At least one that will last. But if you want to improvise a stage, which is what it sounds like, there are as many ways as you can imagine. Ideally, you should stand for a performance (kneeling or sitting inhibits movement), but I’m guessing you’ll be kneeling or sitting. Depending on how tall you are, you could simply turn a rectangular “lunch room style” table on it’s side (legs extended). You could wedge a dowel rod in the opening of a doorway and hang a curtain over it, also. Another way would be to find a suitable corner space in a room, put 2 nails into each wall facing out and hang a rope on the nails (creating a triangle), and drape a sheet over the rope. Or find two tall chairs, put a rod between them and hang your covering. These solutions are usually easily found and set up. Trying to build an actual stage by Sunday will waste your time. One more thing, If you’re considering becoming a professional puppeteer, here are a few words of advice: 1) Never use “store bought” puppets—they are unsuitable for professional use. Either make your own or have them made. 2) A real stage frame can takes months to design and build. 3) Do your absolute best, too many folks out there are doing cheap, unprofessional work and it makes the whole artform suffer.
