How do I make this dancing skeleton for my Spanish project? PLEASE HELP, been working on for hours?

It is this thing called a calavera. You make a “dancing” puppet. now i cut everything out, supported it with cardboard, and now i am on the part where you put string on the arms and legs. Everytime I put the string on, it seems it will not move in the right way. Does anyone here know about this project and can give me some help that is desprately needed (~~DUE TOMORROW~~)?
